Sludge extraction device from lagoon bed

Use of the equipment
The equipment is designed to extract the sludge sediments from sea beds, reclamation channels, channels in general and water basins of any other nature. The sludge is extracted from the bottom in order to avoid putrefaction of the bed, with consequent impoverishment pf oxygen, which is the main cause of the abnormal proliferation of algae and consequent death of the fish fauna in general.

Operation
The equipment is installed on a flatboat and is powered by a motor generator installed onboard of the flatboat. The flatboat direction guides the equipment to the bed sounding and some floating pistons make the equipment adjust to the imperfections of the bed.

The extraction operations are as follows:

  1. A screw dislodges the sludge bed.
  2. A pump sucks the sludge mixture out of the water.

The sludge mixture can thus:

  • Be put into the basin again, thus undergoing a considerable oxidising effect.
  • Be conveyed by a floating duct to special areas, to be biologically digested and neutralised.
  • Be collected into containers loaded on flatboats and then be discharged to sea through ducts.
  • Be conveyed to special treatments.

MAIN COMPONENTS

The main machine components are:

FLOAT: With variable tonnage and slide-shaped, it consists in a tank of special shape, suitably calculated to be fully immersed, thus neutralising its own weight (Archimedean principle). This effect is obtained by ballasting the float with fluid (emulsified water or other suitable products). With the ballast it is possible to vary the impact intensity of the float on the bottom. The compression variability is very important since it allows adapting the equipment based on the thickness and the nature of the sludge present on the bed. The ballast quantity may be varied with a simple manual operation or by an automatic device.

SCREW: Seated in the middle of the tank, fitted with right/left spiral, actuated by an oil-hydraulic motor with variable RPM, it has the function of moving the solid parts and conveying the trapped sludge, thanks to the special construction shape of the float, towards the extraction hopper, at the top of which there is seated a special submersible pump.

SUBMERSIBLE PUMP: The pump has the function of ejecting the sludge trapped into the hopper, sucking and conveying it to the discharge through the delivery duct.

Machine structure
All the above components are supported by a moving arm system fitted on suitably sized hubs, in turn pivoted on sealed bearings, with relevant greasing points. Said moving arm support with variable geometry is actuated by floating oil-hydraulic jacks which on the one side, allow the total or partial lifting thereof and on the other side (with jacks in floating position), the soft laying of the float on the bed, which will then form the barrier of the inlet septum.
